THE ROLLER COASTERS OF
BUSCH GARDENS WILLIAMSBURG
Adventure is at every turn at Busch Gardens
Williamsburg with more than 100 action-packed acres of
unparalleled fun. With dozens of thrilling rides and
attractions, eight mainstage shows, a wide variety authentic
foods and shops, and a magical children’s area, Busch
Gardens Williamsburg is the ticket to a world-class
adventure. The year 2000 saw this Park
awarded world's "Favorite Theme Park" in 2000 and
America's "Most Beautiful Theme Park" for the
ninth consecutive year by the National Amusement Park
Historical Association. A big part of the
attraction at Busch Gardens Williamsburg are the thrilling
roller coasters of every shape and size. Here
is a run-down of these "World Class Coasters"
located through this European-themed Park:
-
Located
in the Festa Italia, Apollo’s Chariot, is a scream
machine. Soar over camelback humps at speeds in
excess of 70 mph, in seats elevated about the car giving
riders a "free flight" sensation.
- Alpengeist is a breathtaking avalanche of adventure that
turns an innocent ski lift into an avalanche
of horror, giving passengers the most chilling ride of their
lives on an inverted steel roller coaster within the
Rhinefeld Village.
-
Scotland
is represented by the Loch
Ness Monster. This "monster" hurls its
passengers along a steel track into the air, over the
water and into a dark cave on an interlocking
double-looping, steel roller coaster.
- Rhinefeld Village is also home to
Wilde Maus - taking riders on a non-stop quest for
cheese through a series of wild twists and
turns.
- The Big Bad Wolf marked a new
generation in family thrill rides when it opened in
1984. Suspended from an overhead track, riders fly
seemingly out-of-control through a deserted Bavarian
village. The spirit of the wolf is present at every
turn, from the distant howls at the boarding station to
the authentically detailed buildings for the longest
roller coaster ride in the park.
