KIDS PROGRAMS OF
SUGARLOAF/USA
Value, Learning and Fun
PERFECT KIDS™ PROGRAMS are designed for fun and
learning. Children 6 weeks to 2½ years-old attend the Sugarloaf/USA
Child Care Center. Organized games, activities and crafts
are offered to all ages. Our child-care facilities are
licensed by the State of Maine Department of Human Services.
Reservations are required.
Mooseketeers is designed to provide a fun-filled first
experience on skis. Willing three year-olds enrolled in the
full day program, may take a 45-minute private coaching
session (beginners and less experienced skiers), or join a 1½
hour morning group session. Lunch, snacks, lift ticket, and
ski rental equipment are included. Reservations are required.
Mountain Magic reveals the fun of skiing to children
three to six years old through an innovative program that uses
games and activities to encourage learning. Half-day and
full-day programs are available. The full-day program includes
indoor activities, a snack and hot lunch. Lift passes and
rental equipment are included.
Mountain Adventure is for children 7-12 years of age.
Advancing skills, or learning to ski or snowboard, while
having fun with peers, is the goal. Half-day and full-day
programs are offered, with indoor activities during the
full-day session.
JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT SEASONAL PROGRAMS offer specialized
season-long programs for children from ages 3 to 16.
Minicuffers- a program for children ages 3 – 5,
focuses on confidence building and all-around skiing skills in
a fun-filled environment. Minicuffers are assigned to
specially trained ski professionals according to age and
ability.
Bubblecuffers is committed to the development of young
athletes. Team members are assigned to specially trained
coaches according to age and technical ability. The program
focuses on diversity and mileage on skis and/or snowboards.
Camaraderie and team spirit develop quickly in this
season-long program. Within the Bubblecuffer program, athletes
may choose to participate in a specialized program.

mogul skiing.

For athletes who want to further
develop their snowboarding skills
- Alpine & Snowboard
– Athletes split their time
between the two disciplines
Junior Professional Program is for ages 13 to 16.
This program is for the more serious athlete who has the
goal of becoming a ski or snowboard professional and
certified PSIA-E Coach, and ultimately a member of the
Sugarloaf/USA Perfect Turnâ
Program.
This 3-year program consists of advanced skiing, while
learning the methods for ski and snowboard coaching.
Sugarloaf/USA Extreme Team also for ages 13 to 16, team
members will enjoy training on all terrain and conditions with
some of the most energetic, enthusiastic coaches that
Sugarloaf/USA has to offer. Athletes have the option to
compete in racing or freestyle and can concentrate their
efforts on the aspects of skiing that they like best.
Intra-Mountain Competition Series – Sugarloaf/USA
offers a selection of competition events for skiers and
snowboarders of all ages.
Sugarloaf/USA and Carrabassett Valley Academy Competition
Programs- in a unique partnership, Freestyle and Alpine
training programs are offered to athletes from ages 8-19.
Participants have the opportunity to compete in events not
just at Sugarloaf/USA, but at USSA sanctioned events
throughout the East.
FUN CENTERS-The Sugarloaf/USA
Fun Center gives kids an
opportunity to enjoy evening activities while giving their
parents an evening out. Fun Center activities for 6 to 12 year
olds include game night, movie night (PG or G), arts and
crafts, talent show, theme nights, sledding, ice skating,
Turbo Tubing and lots of special events. For 13 to 17
year-olds, the Avalanche Club for teens offers video
games, ping-pong, big screen T.V. movies, DJs, munchies and
special events.
Sugarloaf/USA mascots, Amos the Moose, Blueberry the Bear,
Lemon the Yellow-Nosed Vole and Pierre the Lumberjack, are the
heart of the children’s programs at Sugarloaf/ USA. They can
be seen wandering throughout the village or just hanging out
by the base lodge playing with the kids or having their photos
taken. Children remember them and the fun they had.
The whole family will enjoy torchlight parades, fireworks,
live entertainment, snowshoe safaris, ice skating, and Turbo

FAMILY VACATION PACKAGES- Among Sugarloaf/USA’s many
vacation packages, there are several which are expressly
designed for families.
Family Fling Weeks are midweek packages available
February 7-11 and March 27-31, 2000. On-mountain lodging
allows for convenient access to all the resort has to offer.
There will be a special line up of family activities and
shows. Children 12 and under ski FREE!
Children’s Festival Week, January 10-15, is a
similar package during which children 12 and under receive
free lift passes, ski or snowboard rentals and Perfect Kids
ski or snowboard clinics allowing parents to vacation
economically. There will also be a special line-up of family
shows and activities this week.
