NEW AT KIMBERLEY ALPINE RESORT, KIMBERLEY, BRITISH COLUMBIA,
CANADA FOR 2002/2003
The
“What’s New” at Kimberley Alpine Resort for the 2002-2003 ski and
snowboard season is BIG! Lots
of exciting additions and improvements are hitting the resort and guests
will be ecstatic! Opening
day for Kimberley is scheduled for Friday December 13th, so
start gathering your dusty gear, tune it up, and get ready to set the
first tracks of the season.
Trickle
Creek Golf Resort transforms into a magical Winter Wonderland
Located
adjacent to the Kimberley Alpine Resort, award winning Trickle Creek
Golf Resort will transform into a family fun winter wonderland.
A beautiful and tranquil location just far enough away from the
hustle and bustle of the ski slopes yet close enough to reach via
shuttle or a short leisurely walk, this wonderland will be the hub for
family fun. Featuring a
large skating pond for day and night skating, Nordic skiing, snow shoe
trails, campfires, special programs for the young and young at heart.
Nordic skiing and snow shoe tours, lessons and rentals will be
available. Special programs
such as Hockey Night in Kimberley, family entertainment, snow games,
story telling, educational and interpretive programs, adventure slide
shows and videos, spa treatments and more will be on the schedule.
Open daily from December 21 – March 16 (expect Christmas Day).
Quad
Chair opens for Night Skiing
For
the past 28 years guests of the ski resort have used the Maverick T-Bar
for night skiing on North America’s longest illuminated run, the Main
Run. This coming season
marks a turning page in history as the Kimberley Alpine Resort closes
the Maverick T-Bar and opens the North Star Express High Speed Quad for
night skiing on the Main Run. This
change expands our length of run to over 8,200 feet, with a vertical of
over 2,000 feet, plus whisks skiers and snowboarders up to the top in 9
minutes! Night Skiing is
open starting December 26 until March 15th, every Thursday,
Friday and Saturday nights from 5:00pm – 9:30pm, with special extra
days during the Christmas holidays and Alberta Family Day/President’s
Day Weekend.
The
Morning Latte at Stemwinder
Stemwinder
Restaurant, in Polaris Lodge, will open a new coffee shop within its
doors this season. The
all-too-needed morning java and fresh baked goods will be at hand prior
to hitting the slopes, for the afternoon break or for that evening
interlude.

more Grooming
Goal…To
be the best groomed resort in North America.
An additional 27% grooming will be introduced, translating to the
front side terrain’s beginner and intermediate long fall line runs
becoming cruisers paradise!
Improved
Half Pipe and Terrain Park
Dedication
and commitment to improving the resort half pipe and terrain park has
led to Kimberley becoming home to their new half pipe grinder.
Plus Resorts of the Canadian Rockies Inc. has hired on local and
world class terrain park designer Jeff Patterson as the official Half
Pipe and Terrain Park guru for the company, so stay tuned for more
hitting excitement.
New
Retail & Convenience Stops
Polaris
Lodge will be home to a new ski shop featuring the latest in skis,
boots, poles, clothing, jackets, pants and snowboard jackets and pants.
All accessories for your skiing and riding needs like goggles,
helmets, gloves, socks, hats, foot beds and toe warmers.
Plus a great selection of resort logo’d gifts and clothing to
take home. Wildhorse Gift
Shop located in the Marriott Residence Inn will now sell those needed
convenience items for the condo kitchen, while still carrying resort and
hotel logo’d gifts and accessories.
Casino
opens 20 minutes from Resort
Casino
of the Rockies, located just northwest of Cranbrook, celebrated their
Grand Opening in September. Featuring
the latest slot machines, black jack, roulette, horse racing game,
3-card poker and more. Keep
your eyes open for the Casino shuttle coming to the resort a couple
times a week.
