Ski the New Face of
Gore
Ski, snowboard and snowshoe Adirondack
Mountains. Located in the US's largest state park, Gore Mountain
offers alpine, cross country and backcountry skiing, snowboarding,
and snowshoeing for all ages and abilities.
With sixty-two trails, nine lifts, and a
2,100-foot vertical drop, Gore is the biggest mountain within a
four-hour drive of Metropolitan NY. Gore offers big mountain
skiing, excellent prices, and a welcoming family atmosphere.
Gore Mountain recently added the Northwoods
Gondola. This eight-passenger, heated,
high-speed gondola transports skiers and riders
to new terrain servicing all areas of the
mountain. The Northwoods Gondola was named
"Best New Lift" in Skiing Magazine's "Best of
2000" issue.
Gore has also been recognized this year in Ski
Magazine's top ten lists, where readers voted Gore as top ten in
the East in Value, Terrain, Challenge, and Weather. Capital
District Parents Magazine voted Gore the "Best Place for
Family Skiing," and Metroland voted Gore "Best Skiing/Snowboarding." This spring, Gore Mountain was awarded
the Silver Eagle Award by the Skiing Company for Environmental
Group Relations.
For the 2000 / 2001 Snowseason Gore has added
the new trail "Foxlair," which will transport skiers and
riders from the summit station of the gondola to Sunway, Wild Air
or Showcase. Foxlair will be a great ski for intermediates.
Also in 2000 / 2001 Gore Mountain introduces the
Tubbs Snowshoe Winter Adventure Center and an entire program of
snowshoeing and backcountry adventure. This program will feature
guided treks and lessons for all disciplines, including alpine,
cross country, and telemark skiers, snowboarders and snowshoers.
