The Hotel Celebrates
15 Years of a World Class Etiquette Program
At The Ritz-Carlton, Boston, children
are seen and heard at the all-day etiquette program A
Day of Social Savvy. Hosted by the etiquette experts
of The Judith Ré Académie for Instruction in the Social
Graces and the service professionals of The Ritz-Carlton,
Boston, this innovative program invites young ladies and
gentlemen, ages 8 through 12, to develop their social and
personal skills.
2002 marks the 15th year of
Social Savvy classes. They will be held on Saturdays,
October 26th, November 2nd and
December 14th. The day of activities include instruction,
demonstration and participation in the following areas:
proper introductions, table setting and manners, food
preparation and presentation, telephone etiquette, thank
you note writing, polite conversation, health care,
dancing and social "mishaps."
A Day of Social Savvy for
children begins with a welcome gathering over hot
chocolate and muffins, followed by a tour of The
Ritz-Carlton, Boston. The scheduled program includes the
chance to work alongside the Hotel’s pastry chef
preparing delicate desserts. The "hands-on"
approach is emphasized throughout the day, enabling
children not just to enjoy, but also actually to create a
proper social decorum. A Day of Social Savvy
culminates in an evening dance during which the children
learn the art of ballroom dancing and experiment with some
high energy and modern dance steps.
All activities are hosted within the
Hotel where young ladies and gentlemen are taught the
power of poise and grace, amidst the elegant function
rooms and restaurants of the Hotel. The Ritz-Carlton,
Boston and Ms. Judith Ré this year celebrate their
fifteenth anniversary of offering this entertaining and
original curriculum.
Enrollment for A Day of Social Savvy
is limited, and reservations are required. The fee is $325
per child, which includes meals, amenities, instruction
and taxes for this daylong event. Please contact Amanda
Cuddy, Public Relations Coordinator (617) 912-3370, to
make reservations.
The Ritz-Carlton, Boston is celebrating its 75th
Anniversary this year and will reopen after a major
restoration on October 7, 2002. This historic and social
landmark will present a display of hotel memorabilia,
menus and photographs. The public is invited to share with
us historic items and fond memories of the Hotel and
Social Savvy classes.
