KAUAI MARRIOTT RESORT &
BEACH CLUB WELCOMES FAMILIES
The Kauai Marriott Resort & Beach Club is offering parents
an opportunity to give their. children more than just idle days
spent at the beach through its daytime kids program, "Kalapaki
Kids Club." Children are invited to explore beautiful gardens
and see indigenous animals, native plants and flowers, play beach
and water sports, learn about Hawaiian culture and make new
friends under the enthusiastic supervision of qualified, caring
counsellors.
The Kauai Marriott has designed this program to be very
flexible, allowing children the opportunity to participate in an
activity that they find of particular interest, or to sign up for
an entire day of diverse adventures. The Marriott staff recognizes
that more parents are including their children in their vacation
plans, and are making every effort to accommodate the special
needs of this important travel segment.
"We are very pleased to offer the Kalapaki Kids Club
program to our younger guests, and from the response of the
families who have participated, the children love it," said
Doug Chang, hotel manager, who created the program and oversees
its operation. "Kalapaki Kids is a fun and entertaining way
for the kids to learn about the Hawaiian culture," added
Chang.
The Kalapaki Kids Club focuses on the uniqueness of the
Hawaiian Islands and Kauai in particular. For example,
during the hula classes the songs that are taught are all from
Kauai such as "Aloha Kauai." Kids are exposed to the
ukulele, and various Hawaiian crafts like lei making and lauhala
weaving.
"We think it’s important for children to leave Kauai
with a better understanding, and hopefully a deeper appreciation
for the rich and diverse heritage of Hawaii," Chang added.
Kalapaki Kids Club is offered for children from 5 to 12 years
of age on the lush grounds of the Kauai Marriott Resort &
Beach Club. The full-day program is $45, including lunch, a snack
and a Kalapaki Kids T-shirt. Reservations are required one day in
advance, and can be made through the hotel concierge.
