Arithmetricks Perfectly Perplexing Puzzles
Until March 23, 2003
Step right up to the greatest math show on Earth! Science World has
traveled 2to the far corners of the globe to bring you the most baffling and
perplexing math puzzles ever devised. Ringmaster Fineas Polygon is
your
guide as you explore the dozen tabletop puzzles and large maze in the
turn-of-the-century circus setting. Each puzzle has three levels of
difficulty, to give puzzle lovers of all ages a challenge. The Tower of Annoy, Magic Squares, Five Easy Pieces and other puzzling exhibits will
test
your mathematical abilities as well as your patience and resolve. An additional six puzzles are featured in the 'Pandora's Palace of
Perplexing
Paradoxes,' a sideshow of puzzles created for even more mental
challenges.
Youngsters will enjoy 'Arithmetots,' a special area designed just for
them.
Communication
Opens April 5, 2003
Can you remember life before the internet and cellular phones? New inventions for communication have changed our everyday lives in ways our
great-grandparents couldn't have imagined. Communication lets you
discover
the principles of communication and try out revolutionary developments
in
communication technology. Explore the similarities a and confusing
differences between languages. Use a cable of fiber optics to watch a video. Adjust
a satellite dish to send and catch your own image, and control a computer
with
the loudness of your voice. These and other hands-on experiences will
help you better understand today's information society. This
fascinating exhibit
comes to Science World from Heureka, a science centre in Helsinki,
Finland.

Hot Music/Cool Tales: The Art & Science of Sound
March 12 to April 13, 2003
This all-ages, high-energy live show is a dramatic tribute to the
phenomenon
of sound and its impact on our lives. Join performers Professor Cool and
Willy B. Hot on a whirlwind tour of the audible world, spinning together storytelling and science demonstrations with physical theatre, live
music,
audience participation, techno-tools and old fashioned foley sound
effects.

Alcan OMNIMAX(r) Theatre
The Alcan OMNIMAX Theatre at Science World features one of the largest
dome
screens in the world. Wrap yourself in a breathtaking educational
science and nature experience. The screen is five storeys high, 27 metres in
diameter and boasts a sensational wraparound digital sound system to put
you right in the picture.
Bears
From polar bears on the arctic tundra to grizzlies in Alaska, Bears
explores
the mythical past and fragile future of some of the most inspiring and
misunderstood predators on the planet. The fourth and most anticipated giant-screen film produced by the National Wildlife Federation, Bears
presents fresh footage of these enterprising omnivores in the full glory
of their natural habitat. Learn about the challenges facing each of these species - and why protecting them benefits wildlife and people
everywhere.
Everest
The top of Mt. Everest calls only to the most daring and determined
individuals who are convinced that dreams can be realized through
incredible effort and risk. Everest takes you on an inspirational and spell-binding ascent with an international team of climbers who found hope, beauty and
triumph in the wake of tragedy. The film tells the dramatic true story
of the expedition's journey to the summit, just days after the infamous
1996 tragedy in which eight climbers lost their lives in a deadly storm.

Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure
Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure recounts the extraordinary true story
of
polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton's ill-fated 1914-16 British
Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition. While never accomplishing its goal of

crossing of the Antarctic continent, this expedition has become a

Philadelphia as it showcases the eye-popping skateboarding, biking, moto
X,
and street luge competitions on the giant screen for the first time.
