LA SOURCE AQUACLUB -
TREMBLANT'S WATER WONDERLAND
Nestled in the Pedestrian Village Centre at
Intrawest's Tremblant Resort, under
the Cabriolet open air gondola, is La Source Aquaclub, a full facility fitness
club and pool complex that's a Water Wonderland for families at
this premier Quebec vacation destination.
Although open year round, the winter season
brings a special excitement for families enjoying the indoor
mountain themed swimming pool at La Source. An
outdoor heated pool, open in the summer and full fitness centre
featuring the latest equipment and fitness consultants are also
part of the facility.
The thrill of skiing one minute then
frolicking in over 400,000 litres of water in two kiddie
pools, two hot tubs and the main indoor pool was one of the
highlights of our recent visit to Tremblant.
The easy climb slide in one of the kiddie pools
offers a
sliding good time for young ones. This slide is
great for toddlers and young children since riders don't get
submerged at the bottom, landing on a cushioned mat. Young
children take pleasure in playing in the
warm shallow waters of this pool
under the watchful eye of their parents.
Bridges
connecting the indoor pool's island to the "main land"
create cave-like tunnels that include basketball nets on either
side. Balls were available for shooting hoops. Our game of
water basketball was a grudge match of kids vs. parents.
Of course the kids won (we couldn't stop laughing). The island also features a mountain
waterfall and slide. The bridges are one of the spots
where lifeguards supervise all the fun.
A
popular
attraction at the indoor pool is the
Tarzan-like rope swing. Kids line up to grab the
rope, swing out over the water and drop into the pool again and
again. The drop zone is roped off from the main pool and
lifeguards ensure that the "Swingers" observe safety
rules. I just couldn't figure out where kids get the
energy from as I watched my boys dangle on the rope at least 20
times during our three hour adventure at La Source.
One of the "Coolest" elements at
the
complex is the Rock Jump. Even I had to try this
one. A ledge provides a jumping platform for those
"brave" enough to take the leap. While I fully
expected my boys to enjoy this feature, I was amazed to see a
three year old little girl (mom was waiting in the water for
her) hesitantly edge out and splash into the water below.
She must have enjoyed it though because I saw her do it at least
four more times!!
Adults get a special treat in the winter as the
outdoor hot tub is reserved just for them. Soaking away
some of those sore muscles as steam rises all around let us
participate in some lively conversations with other parents
about the virtues of La Source as a Water Wonderland and the
Tremblant Resort as a Winter Wonderland.
