Families Flock to Kelowna's waterfront.
Located on the shores of
beautiful Okanagan Lake, Kelowna's waterfront is the perfect place
to take part in water sports, take a stroll along the path, let children
play, have a picnic or watch the birds.
With 8 waterfront parks,
from Knox Mountain in the North to Rotary Park in the South, this
city is blessed with beautiful beaches, playgrounds, sports
areas and scenic views. See if
you can catch Ogopogo, the resident lake monster or spot some of
the many feathered creatures at the Maude-Roxby Bird Sanctuary.
City Park, overlooking the
floating bridge in downtown Kelowna,
is a children's favourite. The well equipped playground has
an area for young children, one for older children, swings,
slides, monkey bars, teeter totter and more for year round
amusement.
Summer provides even more
fun with the water play area. Open daily
July
and August and weekends late spring and early fall, Kids have a
ball climbing on "Ogopogo" trapped in a cargo net,
hoses, slides and sprinklers.
This park also has a
Skateboarding bowl, soccer fields, basketball nets, tennis courts
and more for anyone looking for action.
Take
the path from City Park on foot, bike, roller blade, skateboard or
scooter and head over to the Waterfront Park and you will pass one
of the many beach areas in Kelowna. Recreation Paths abound
throughout Kelowna.
The
Marina located by this park allows
boaters access to Kelowna's waterfront park and downtown. Sailboats,
motor boats, sail boards and charter tours are just a few ways to
enjoy the water. Fishing is also a popular pasttime on the
lake.
The Grand Okanagan Hotel
stands proudly at the north end of the Waterfront Park.
Luxury family accommodations with an indoor/outdoor pool,
outdoor pool, shuffleboard and family barbeque deck are just some
of the facilities this downtown Hotel offers.
On-site
Restaurants provide a pleasant vantage point to watch the action
on the lake or at the marina.
