WOW! It's Fundy for Families!
THE BAY OF FUNDY - ONE OF THE MARINE WONDERS OF THE
WORLD
Choosing a family vacation destination has never
been easy. Kids want one that delivers the all-important "wow"
factor. And parents need one that addresses the "wallet"
factor. How do you get the "wows" without sacrificing the
wallet? Easy. It's called the Fundy Coastal Drive on New Brunswick's
fabulous southern coast.
The Bay of Fundy is one of the Marine Wonders of
the World. - where tides rise and fall up to an incredible 1 meters (48
feet) per day and create rock formations of monumental proportions at
Hopewell. This giant "aquarium" is an inexpensive, unique,
outdoor classroom - guaranteed to get a "wow" from everyone in your
family. On par with the Great Barrier Reef of Australia, you'll find all
sorts of natural phenomena - from sea caves to whirlpools. And your kids
will love the new state-of-the-art interpretive centre with an exciting
multimedia display.
Travel further along this spectacular
450-kilometre (280-mile) stretch of coastline and you'll discover more than you
bargained for. Go swimming in a saltwater pool at Fundy National Park or
beachcombing at New River Beach. Take a tour into the Bay itself aboard a
boat equipped with closed-circuit TV for adventure above and below the
waves. Or learn about bird banding on Grand Manan Island's Anchorage
Park.
At the southern tip of the Bay in St. Andrews,
visit the touch tank at the Huntsman Marine Science Centre, Aquarium and
Museum. It will give your kids a chance to not only look at marine lie but
actually touch the aquatic creatures. Further up the coast, it's the
seaport city of St. John. The New Brunswick Museum on the waterfront is a
must-see attraction for the whole family with its life-size dinosaurs and
whales.
Moncton is home to more magic, history and
mystery. Magnetic Hill is one of the few places in the world where cares
seemingly coast uphill on their own! The thrills continue at the Magic
Mountain Waterslide Park and Crystal Palace, the ultimate indoor amusement
park.
There's also horseback riding along salt marshes
. . . canoeing through a shoreline teeming with wildlife and sea kayaking
through whale-watching territory in the isles of Fundy.
Sampling fresh seafood is never a problem - for
your tastebuds or your budget! The kids can snack on the Bay of Fundy's
salty, purple sea vegetable - dulse, while Mom and Dad enjoy lobster and you'll
enjoy the town of Alma's world-famous sticky buns.
If you think those adventures are wow-packed,
there's more! New Brunswick has developed all kinds of convenient day
adventure packages that combine action-packed fn with great price! They
only take a day to experience but the memories are guaranteed to last a
lifetime.
Once you've packed in as much adventure as you
can in a day, there are plenty of affordable accommodations along the
way.
With so much going on in the wonder-fillded world
of Fundy, its not hard to figure out how you get more wows for your wallet.
